The research group Kunera consists of prof. dr. A.M. (Jos) Koldeweij, drs. Willy Piron and dr. Hanneke van Asperen. As head of the Kunera team Prof em. Jos Koldeweij was primarily responsible for the idea of Kunera. Willy Piron is charged with the day-to-day running. At different points in time since the start of the project, Angelique van den Eerenbeemd, Sybille Wijffels, Marjolijn Kruip and Edward Fritschy have assisted on a temporary basis.
Kunera is first and foremost a collaborative effort. The database came about in close collaboration with the Medieval Badges Foundation (SMRPI), the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, especially dr. Hartmut Kühne (who is responsible for the project Wallfahrt und Pilgerzeichen), the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Neurenberg and the project Faith and Fortune – Foi et Bonne Fortune of the Bruges Museum, 2004-2006.
The necessary financial support came from the research project Christian Cultural Heritage of the Radboud University and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). Moreover, the website came into being with funding of the Reinier Post Foundation (Radboud University). Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS), a project of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), subsidized the applications Bruges in EU perspective and ’s-Hertogenbosch in EU perspective.
Maxdoro was responsible for the design of the website, both the technical aspects and the lay-out. The Center for Art Historical Documentation (CKD) of the Radboud University guards the continuity of the database and the website.
Finally, the research group Kunera is much obliged to the following organizations and persons: the research project Christian Cultural Heritage (Radboud University), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the Reinier Post Foundation, the Medieval Badges Foundation (SMRPI), and in particular Mr. H.J.E van Beuningen † and drs. Dory Kicken †.
